(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) Violent clashes have erupted after Friday prayers between Israeli troops and Jerusalemite worshipers following an Israeli violent raid on the Aqsa mosque.
Dozens of tear gas suffocation cases were reported amongst Palestinian worshipers at the Aqsa mosque.
According to eyewitnesses, paramedics were prevented from helping the injured.
A large force of Israeli troops stormed the Aqsa mosque, besieged the worshipers at the grey-domed Mosque, and then started to fire a hail of rubber bullets and stun grenades at them.
In turn, the worshipers threw stones, shoes and chairs at the Israeli police forces who deployed themselves in the main courtyard of the Mosque. The troops also sprayed some worshipers with pepper gas, causing a number of injuries.
Scores of Palestinians were severely beaten by Israeli police, including a journalist named Atta Oeisat, eyewitnesses said.
They added that the police troops withdrew from the Mosque's courtyard, gathered at Al-Maghariba Gate, blocked the other entrances and prevented more worshipers from entering.
The Israeli police deliberately attacked the worshipers while praying, local sources reported, affirming that this incident caused a state of extreme tension among the Palestinians in the holy city.
